Today in class we were hosting a debate, about legal and illegal gambling in the US.

My teacher says that if a person hosts his/her own poker game in their house and bet money, it is illegal.

I debated other wise, was I right, or was she?
We live in the State of Missouri, so I need to know for our state since the state regulates gambling laws.

She also said non-state ran gambling is illegal, unless otherwise told, such as for churches, charities, etc.

This is a way to gamble in blackjack that does not work (limits at tables dont allow it). Hear this out.

You buy in for 500$, and if you have knowledge of sports do bets that pay out -110 or about even (moneylines with NBA). Bet 5$ on a game. if you lose, bet 10 the next game, if you lose bet 20 the next game, then 40, then 80, then 160. then 320. If any of those bets won, youd be up 5$, and have 505$ total.

In BLACKJACK, it is very likely to lose 7 times like this and lose all your money. But in sports betting, the odds of this are hugely unlikely if you have a decent knowledge of sports. Bet on ONE team, or some of the same teams. A team is very likely to cover the spread or over under after 7 times like this.

This has been proven to not work in card games, but for sports betting, is this possible to work???

Okay, here’s the deal. I am a cyclist, okay, no, I was a cyclist, not too serious, but i really, really love the sport and I used to do it a lot. On the other hand, I am a student, which means:

A) How can Las Vegas have such control of games? Let’s say the Over Under was 40 points. How do odds makers not only determine that but how are they so accurate?

B) How are the spreads translated through the players’ eyes. They seem to go for useless TD’s at the end of games; they also don’t score when it’s needed.

I can see how this happens in college with a botched kick here or a
botched kick there….But how does this happen in the NFL?
I understand money is a part of the equation. But how does the aspect of money get down to the players? Do they bet for or against their own teams when the spread is within reach? I personally think it’s horrible that the government is trying to stop online gambling. If the government is going to try to shut down online casinos they might as well shut down land casinos as well. But their not going to do that because they a lot of money off of the land casinos. With the online gambling they don’t.

I used to be a licensed casino dealer. I love gambling. I usually don’t gamble because I can’t afford it, and usually I am responsible with my money. Due to misfortune, I am now living in a state with no casinos, and have been out of work for a year and 4 months. I broke down and went to an online casino, convinced that I could get over on the casino with roulette, as I was a roulette dealer and have seen people who know how to use the outside bets. I lost 0. I would get close to winning my money back, but every time I lost it again. I kept going up and down for several hours, always hovering around a 0 loss. I am broke now, and very resentful. I am so depressed that I hate myself. How can I get my money back? Should I write a letter to Oprah, play the lottery, hang myself, etc???

He is really immature. He wants to screw people over as a boss yet he wants to be your friend. I really don’t speak to him about anything non work related and he seems to be pissed at me. He has attempted to screw me over to the point I had to call HR. Now he doesn’t speak to me at all. I’m a supervisor but he will leave me out of supervisors meetings. I get the feeling that If I don’t allow him to screw me over he doesn’t know how to deal with me. This department has had 5 supervisors in 4 years. Everyone transfers after a year. You have to be at this company a year before you can transfer to another department. What’s funny is he only does it to this one particular department because he was once the super of this department until he moved up to branch manager. He wrestles with my young employees, has street races, bets money on sporting events and sings over the PA system. He attempts to pit my foreman and me against one another. My foreman is young so he is falling for it
